Valverde is back on mat!

Yesterday I went to grapple after a break of over three months. I missed that sport and the places I train in.
I think my perfomance had dropped a bit, but not by much. It was a submission wrestling class. Tomorrow I will go there too. So continues my upward spiraling in grappling!

Introduction to my way of training, part 1

You'll read now about my physical training.

On February 2011 I was almost crippled with very bad chronic pain in my lower back, knees, elbows and groin. I found something called Gym Movement Protocol, created by a man named Frankie Faires who himself suffered from pain regardless how he moved. Me, Frankie and many, many more people have resolved their seemingly eternal pain issues, lost a ton of fat and kept making progress in their training every day!

Everything can be tested. Movements, foods and even beliefs. Gym Movement protocol is about finding out what's best for an individual on any given time. In my training I know exactly what exercises to do, what poundages to use in them, how many reps to do with them and how much time to rest between sets. I never work hard, I always stop before it gets that way. I'm never sore, hurt nor in need to take days off from training. I make progress every single training day in everything I train. A PR, Personal Record. I do not mean that it's always a one-rep max, a PR can be made of volume and/or density, too. In fact I've learned to listen to my body so well, I don't need testing anymore. How do you test something, then?

-Try toe touching. Stop when you feel tension. That point where you feel tension is your baseline. Arm raises work too. This is called ROM, short for Range Of Motion.

-Mimick on thin air a lift you want to do without any kind of loading. Check your baseline again. If you lost ROM, that movement isn't the best for you that time. If you gain ROM, it's better for you. For me toe touching is perfect for ROM testing, because my baseline is on mid-shin. If my knuckles touch the ground after testing, that movement is best for me that day.

-Then start testing with loading. Repeat the same as above. There, you have found your best movement and loading at the time!

Sounds complicated? It's absolutely not! This is so easy. When you learn this, you will never need a coach, book or DVD to teach you any kind of pre-set program or way of moving. You will make progress every day by understaning what your body needs. Everyone's an individual.

I'm using Gym Movement Protocol to become one of Finland's best grip athletes. I'll write about the mental side of my training in the future when I have more data to show. It is not unimportant by the way, what is inside of your mind affects your training deeply.

Now, go try what I instructed. Don't just take everything from me, experiment yourself and be sure to check Adam T. Glass' site!

EDIT: Scratch that, I say one of the world's strongest grip athletes, not just Finlands.

Ironmind Grip Classic Vol. 2 28.1.2012

Last weekend I went to the first elimination contest of Ironmind Grip Classic Vol. 2. It was held at Gym Voimapuoti. I made a credit card set with Coc #1.5, barely missing #2. I can't remember what I pulled
with Rolling Thunder, but it was lower than last time. On Apollo's Axle overhand deadlift I set a new PR with 110 kilos, however! So that day was good enough for me. I just hadn't had much energy nor ability to train with my recovery from the surgery I had. I will post official results when they are announced.

Last few days have been very bad for me, my sleep has been unusually poor. I believe it will be fixed soon.
My next project is beginning my own Internet marketing business.

Better bodies

These endoskeletons are the kind I wish I could have now. I'm sure many of you have seen Terminator movies and know what kind of capabilities T-models were shown to have. I'd spend five years without living tissue if I had to in order to be an improved version of the human. Well, T-models are completely synthetic, but it doesn't matter.

I never want to become an unemotional machine, though.

There's no choice but to train myself within humane limits for now.
